From Kochi to Port Blair
Leave Cochin International Airport, then start the island itinerary in Port Blair.
Getting there
Kochi (Cochin) is a Kerala departure, not an Andaman base. You fly out of Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery (COK). Adventure Andaman runs the island side from Port Blair: hotels, ferries, cabs, listed activities. We do not have a Kochi office.
Kerala’s monsoon calendar and Andaman’s ferry calendar are not the same thing. A wet week in Ernakulam does not tell you whether Havelock boats are running. Book COK–Port Blair air separately unless a quote includes it, and share the landing time so day one is honest.
No road or railway to the islands. No passenger ship from Kochi harbour to Port Blair. Fly, usually with a connection via a larger Indian hub.
COK to IXZ. Nedumbassery is inland from the city and from Fort Kochi — build that transfer on the Kerala side. Many dates to Port Blair connect via Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad or another city. Check the airline; we will not invent a current non-stop.
Cochin is not an Andaman passenger-ship port. If you specifically want a sea crossing, you would first reach a port such as Chennai, then spend several days aboard. That is a poor use of Kerala leave for a beach week.
Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town serve the mainland. There is no train to Andaman. A train to Chennai plus a flight (or, rarely, a Chennai ship) is possible; a rail-only plan is not.
Kerala travellers often under-estimate connection risk because COK itself is a smooth airport. The risk sits at the hub and at the IXZ landing hour.
If the last leg from your Kochi ticket lands after mid-afternoon, we keep you in Port Blair. Island ferries do not run on Cochin harbour logic.
Do not copy a “Kerala monsoon” assumption onto Havelock either — ask us about the Andaman month you are actually travelling.
